STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX– Representative Jill Norgaard (R-18) praised Governor Duceyfor signing HB 2139 into law.
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Norgaard, allows the Department of Economic Security (DES) toestablish an insurance industry data match reporting system for the purpose of identifyingclaimants who are overdue on child support payments and permits DES to post information onthe internet on individuals who have not made child support payments in at least 12 months.
“This legislation gives DES more tools to identify parents with outstanding child supportpayments and incentivizes those parents to fulfill their obligations,”

said RepresentativeNorgaard.

“If they do not fulfil their obligation, HB 2139 allows for identification ofexcessive insurance awards to go directly to the children.”
“I thank Governor Ducey and my colleagues in the Legislature for prioritizing the wellbeingand safety of children in our state.”
HB 2139 passed overwhelmingly out of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
