The Lazarus Effect

I’ve pointed out that the media vilify elected officials in life and deify them in death.  The best (or perhaps it is the worst) example is EJ Montini who viciously mocked John McCain for decades and now pretends that they were great friends.

I’ve often wanted to run the experiment backwards.  Sadly, life (generally) only goes one direction.  Wouldn’t have been great if the Mainstream Media had covered, say, Lazarus?  During his life he would have been part of the motley crew of rabble rousers who hung around with Jesus.  But then he died and he would have been the family man who–along with his sisters Mary and Martha–was known for his hospitality.  But then he was resurrected!  Twitter would be ablaze with stories of Lazarus–the guy who eats with the unclean and who associates with tax collectors–coming back from the dead.

I can only think of one other time that’s happened.  Check out the progression of these Tweets.

I wish Don Shooter the best and I hope that he is on his way to a full recovery.  Wouldn’t it be great if the media would continue to describe him the way they did when they thought he might not be with us any longer?

And wouldn’t it be great if EJ Montini admitted that he despised John McCain and that the feeling was mutual?
