We’ve Been Robbed

Eddie Farnsworth is retiring and the Republic’s Craig Harris is using the opportunity to Tweet about “Charter School Millionaires”. In addition to resorting to name calling and class warfare, Harris either doesn’t understand, or chooses to ignore the fundamental economics behind charter schools.

Don’t take my word for it, read the words of Republic columnist Bob Robb.  In September of 2018, Robb wrote:

Weve Been RobbedIf someone makes big bucks creating and running a successful charter school chain, is that per se a scandal?

The wide belief that it is illustrates the extent to which charter schools as government contractors, providing a service for a set fee, hasn’t been accepted.

Wait a second…who wrote that?  Was is Bob Robb or was it Yoda?  Let’s try that again.

The wide belief that it is illustrates the extent to which charter schools as government contractors, providing a service for a set fee, hasn’t been accepted.

I think that Robb models his writing after the great John Locke , “whatever I write, as soon as I discover it not to be true, my hand shall be the forwardest to throw it into the fire.”

Bob Robb’s September 2018 column is the definitive debunking of Craig Harris’ hit piece on “Charter School Millionaire’s” broadly and Hectoring of Farnsworth specifically.  I say that it is “definitive” because Robbs’ column is so well reasoned and factual that it is a complete takedown of Harris’ populist rant.

The column is also “definitive” because it’s the only column that Robb wrote on the topic!

Eleven months have past and Harris is pummeling charter schools every chance he gets–and the Republic’s little Twitter minions dutifully retweet his every word.  Meanwhile, Bob Robb wastes his column pondering the sustainability of Quantitative Easing.

Believe it or not, the Republic considers itself to be balanced.  Yet while Bob Robb’s IQ is comparable to the combined scores of Craig Harris, EJ Montini and Laurie Roberts, his opaque writing style, fondness for obscure economic topics and discomfort with social media render him an ineffective participant in a media environment that has become increasingly combative.

The Republic has one conservative columnist.  We have one guy who is supposed to offset Roberts and Montini–the team of Left and Lefter–as well as try to correct the left-leaning bias of journalists like Harris.  We have one guy and he is uniquely unsuited for the task.

We have been Robbed.
