AZ Republic’s prelude to Sinema endorsement

‘Sally McCain’ gets axed by her former chums at the AZ Republic

The hot-to-trot Arizona Republic is already making endorsements in the Aug, 28, primary election. Seven months in advance is an unusual jump start, but the left-wing newspaper wants to leave no stone unturned in its ultimate endorsement of CD-9 U.S. Rep. Kyrsten Sinema for the U.S. Senate. The seat is prudently being vacated by one-termer Jeff Flake whose 18% approval numbers are lower than dirt.  This is extremist Kyrsten Sinema, before she altered her appearance and softened her tone.

Last Oct. Flake acknowledged he would not be able to win the Republican primary admitting, “That’s the bottom line.” Not quick on the uptake, he oddly thought he could increase his popularity by referring to Trump-supporting Republican primary voters as “a subset of a subset.”

The first clue that the Hillary endorsing newspaper was no longer standing with Martha McSally — often referred to on this site as Sally McCain, for obvious reasons — was the column by Linda Valdez’ protégé Elvia Diaz.

Diaz’ piece titled,Will the real candidate Martha McSally stand up? (hard copy headline) slams McSally into a no-win spot, exposed for refusing to endorse presidential candidate Donald Trump as she now engages in “kissing up” to President Trump. Reading the article the bigger picture becomes clear:  Beat up on McSally, then take the hatchet to Dr. Kelli Ward and former Sheriff Joe Arpaio, both of whom Diaz eviscerates. Here’s her dire prediction:

’”I’m not impressed with the new McSally. But I would – in a heartbeat – take the former female fighter pilot over Arpaio or Ward. Arizonans must reject the extreme views of the former Maricopa County sheriff and the former state legislator who promotes isolationism in trade and global politics. That kind of philosophy hurts America; we must wake up before it’s too late.”

The article, filled with arrogant bluster foolishly assumes whatever newspaper readers remain are all compliant Republicrats in lock-step with Diaz’ far leftist views and will vote according to instructions in the primary election.

The predictable tag team columns follow, with E. J. Montini, declaring McSally suddenly McSkittish about criticizing the president. Sap queen Laurie Roberts also weighs in.

In 2016 McSally won this warm newspaper endorsement. How times have changed in Liberal Land. Conservatives are supporting Dr. Kelli Ward, a straight talking, principled two-term state senator and physician. Check out her website, see where she stands on the issues of importance and send her a donation.  This is a critically important election with far-reaching national implications.

Arizonans have a rare opportunity to replace deceitful Jeff the Flake. Señor Juan McAmnesty is seriously ill and has not returned to D.C. in weeks while undergoing treatment for brain cancer. Expect another senate seat to open soon.
