Flying into McCain?

Mayor Stanton employs odd tactic to aid his next political pursuit — naming airport terminal after pilot who crashed 3 planes*

Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton has political aspirations that far exceed the job he’s held since 2012. Although he  filed to run for Secretary of State earlier this year, the liberal Democrat now has his eye on congress. With U. S. Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, a fellow leftist, abandoning the 9th Congressional District post to run for the U.S. Senate, Stanton has decided to run for the open CD 9 seat in 2018.

His vote-getting scheme calculated to bring RINOs into the Democrat fold is the renaming of Terminal 3 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

Stanton’s fawning words showcase McCain’s appeal to the left:

“Senator McCain has given so much of himself to our country, to Arizona and to Phoenix. Giving something back to an American hero, a former naval aviator and a 30-year member of the U.S. Senate is the least we can do,” Stanton announced Thursday.

Stanton also took to twitter where the majority of replies were anti-McCain, until word went out to give him some accolades, which appear grouped together.

Soon, @PHXSkyHarbor's Terminal 3 will have a new look and, hopefully, a new name.

Naming this gateway into our state in honor of @SenJohnMcCain — an aviator and true American hero who's given so much to our nation — couldn't be more fitting. https://t.co/AllPBPfEIK pic.twitter.com/m1WchyDc89

Councilman Jim Waring, who began his political career as an aide to McCain — with whom he still maintains a strong relationship — said:

“This is a fitting tribute to a man who personifies courage and perseverance.” Waring added, “Sky Harbor Airport is one of America’s busiest airports and is a point of pride for Phoenicians.  As such, there is no greater honor the city can bestow than to name one of its terminals after a community leader. Tens of millions of visitors and residents will see Senator McCain’s name and be reminded of his long service and personal sacrifice on behalf of Arizona and our country.”

This apple-polishing foolishness requires approval of the City Council who will consider the proposal Nov. 29. It will then be forwarded to McCain’s office for “full consideration.”  Bet on a quick ‘thumb’s up.’

Terminal 3  is in the midst of a nearly $600 million renovation that is scheduled to be completed in 2020.  Think of this as our tax dollars at work.
