MC Recorder Adrian Fontes tells voter to F-himself

Posted by on | November 3, 2017 | No Comments

You wouldn’t be alone if you’ve never heard of Adrian Fontes. The lawyer and political novice is Maricopa County‘s classy new Recorder, winning the election by a single percentage point over Helen Purcell who held the post for nearly 30 years. The office oversees elections and records documents.

Fontes not only wants to reconstruct the elections process within one of the nation’s largest counties, he is paring down polling places, sending all registered voters a mail-in ballot — regardless of whether or not they requested one and is hard at work reconfiguring voting precincts, consolidating them for what many believe to be nefarious purposes — giving the edge to Democrats.

On his bio page on the Recorder’s Office website, the word Democrat, in bold face type, follows his name as the third word on the site. He also informs Maricopa County voters that he is an “avid supporter of his community.”  Exactly which community is not defined, though Maricopa County, the fourth most populous county in the United States is far too large to be considered “a community.“  The fact that he plays in a mariachi band, could be a clue.

But it’s his mouth that is putting the liberal on the map. When a voter complained on Facebook about encountering difficulties with the ballot and mentioned that his mother was also having problems, Fontes, the father of three young daughters, blew a hole through the civility that voters have come to expect from the Recorder’s Office. He told the man, a fellow Democrat running for the state legislature, he could go “F-himself.” He then backed that response up by saying, “My response was not only appropriate but deserved,” saying he was defending the work of his staff.

After his coarseness made the news, Fontes later apologized to the candidate for the crude response. He said he took matters too far, and said he will try to do better. “Try” is a bit too iffy to count on from a boorish hothead like Adrian Fontes.

During his campaign, Fontes claimed to want to make the county recorder’s office “nonpartisan,” either by taking the vote from the people by making the elected post an appointed position or by deceptively concealing the party affiliation of candidates as the City of Phoenix does.

Since the word “Democrat” follows his name on his office bio, that pre-election blather has obviously gone by the wayside. It falls in the same category as open borders/amnesty proponent John McCain deceptively pledging tocomplete the danged fence.”
