Misplaced anger, feigned abuse elevates another McCain

Meghan McCain gets her ample back up

The headlines accuse President Trump of mocking John McCain. A simple Google search turns up multiple reports on the topic, leading readers to think the worst. Could the president, using grand insensitivity, have ridiculed McCain’s scar above his eyebrow where Mayo surgeons recently excised a cancerous growth on his brain?

No, that’s not it.

Whatever it was, it was “abhorrent.” Meghan McCain says so.

“What more must my family be put through right now?she tweeted. “This is abhorrent.”

Given the facts, Ms. McCain asks the wrong question and draws the wrong conclusion. President Trump imitated John McCain’s intentionally dramatic, Caligula-like ‘thumbs down,’ indicating his calamitous vote to single-handedly torpedo the repeal and replacement of Obamacare. It was a key campaign issue for Donald Trump — one that resonated with the national GOP voter base that put him in the White House and previously kicked McCain to the curb.

McCain’s action, one of many such tantrums and malicious acts, was based in his jealous rage that political outsider Donald Trump is president, a position McCain, with decades in D.C., failed miserably at achieving. In the 2008 presidential election, McCain only carried his home state by a slim 8.5% margin. Today, he gains his relevancy by creating havoc. At 81 with a 6-year senate term that it is unlikely he will complete, he has nothing to lose.

Meghan should have asked, “What more must the people of the United States be put through by the obstinate pettiness of John McCain?”
