The lunacy of celebrating diversity gets even loonier

Phoenix City Council votes for rainbow crosswalks

Since the inception of our nation, America has been enriched by people of various backgrounds coming to our shores to form a bond that celebrated unity. As grade school students, we were given a single dowel and asked to break it. Of course, it snapped easily in our young fingers. Then we were given several dowels corded together and found that the same task was not easily accomplished. This early lesson was intended to clearly illustrate the power of unity, which in the case of populations, needs assimilation to flourish.

But today, the bonds of unity are cast aside for the celebration of diversity — the very thing that separates us.

Conservative intellectual Thomas Sowell, once wrote, “The next time some academics tell you how important diversity is, ask how many Republicans there are in their sociology department.” His 2013 column,Words that replace thought,” remains relevant.

We veer off into diversityville today to inform our readers that the liberal majority on the Phoenix City Council including Mayor Greg Stanton — also a self-identified “progressive” congressional candidate — voted unanimously to join what the Arizona Republic newspaper has described as a ”nationwide trend of painting crosswalks with a rainbow design to celebrate the local lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.”

Heterosexuals, who replenish our earth as God commanded in Genesis 9:7, aren’t worthy of celebration.

Until three years ago when Bruce Jenner revealed himself on the cover of Vanity Fair as “Caitlyn.” few had ever heard the word “transgender.”  Now, thanks to the liberal media, which call homosexuality aculture,” what was previously identified as deviancy, has become so mainstreamed it’s being taught as merely an alternate lifestyle in public elementary schools.

The Seattle Times picked up the crosswalk story, characterizing it as “Phoenix honors gay pride.”

Vastly outnumbered, by leftists, Republican council members Sal DiCiccio and Jim Waring chose to be absent rather than engage in the rainbow crosswalk vote.
